All About Us

We are pretty much your normal couple. I (the husband) am a retired disabled veteran
(infantry, special forces, combat engineer) and my wife is the overall major force in all things
to do with us. We started making these Carts as an evolution of our Beach experiences. When
we retired, we started spending a lot of time at the beach, any beach, but mainly out at
Cape Lookout, NC. We started with the 2-3 day hotel trips (REAL Expensive and short stays)
and worked our way up to Camping trips (a lot cheaper, longer stays), BUT it always came out
to the same thing, a lot of stuff to carry. Soon we started keeping a trailer out on Cape
Lookout (air conditioning, hot showers, sat TV) and although that did cut down on what I had
to physically carry, I was still carrying a lot of stuff (back and forth to the surf line etc.)
We tried all the usual stuff, the metal store bought wagons (lasted 2 months in the salt
environment and the tires were to small),the gulf carts (That was a disaster worthy of a
movie) and the aluminum fish ____ cart(you know which one, try going any distance while
lifting up the front end in loose sand). SO, my oh so smart wife looks at me one day and says
"You make everything else, make a cart", in that voice that ALL men who are handy around
the house and who are ASSUMED to be able to fix ANYTHING, can just whip up a cart that
is LIGHTWEIGHT, NON-RUSTING, and can carry not only numerous items, but also a fair
amount of Weight over very loose beach sand. I thought about it for a week, and decided why
not. I talked it over with my friend Pat about pro's and con's (he has done the beach thing
also)and came up with the first prototype in about 1 month (actually it was 2 of different
styles but the second one was sold before the clear coat was even dried). I used it out at the
beach for 3 years, left it outside in the salt air, ran it through the surf, left it out in the
sand storms / nor'easters, Pat took it on vacation to Myrtle Beach, you name it, we did it.
We had probably about 10 changes to make, and then we started to think about making them
to sell. Every place we went we saw people, like us, who had to carry stuff back and forth to
the beach. Now, at this point I was mainly pointing toward the fishing element, surf / pier,
marina use and so on. But, after Pat used it down at Myrtle Beach, we decided to branch out
to other uses such as Beach house use , general beach use etc. Now, 4 years and about
$8000.00 later we have 6 models, plus some misc items with more to come.
